Hutchinson invests US$2mn on Chaco expansion

Hutchinson Whamphoa has expanded its mobile telephone converage in Paraguay's central Chaco region, on a US$2mn investment, Paraguayan daily ABC reported. In doing so Hutchinson becomes the third of Paraguay's four operators to offer coverage in the Chaco - a large, rural region on the country's northwestern border with Bolivia. "Our perspective for the Chaco is very big. We have the highest technology in the country and in the Chaco also," said Hutchinson Telecom Paraguay CEO Rogerio Antunez. "Today we have a base of 25% of the users in [the Chaco towns of] Filadelfia, Loma Plata, Campo Leon and the city of Mariscal Estigarribia," he added. Hutchinson Telecom operates a GSM network.
