  • This structure has reached the end of its useful life, so it is in the process of demolition.
  • Unfortunately, one worker was injured.

The Secretariat of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation ( SICT ), through the San Luis Potosí SICT Center, reports that during the dismantling work of the Palictla bridge structure, a collapse occurred in which a worker from the construction company was injured. This structure has reached the end of its useful life, which is why it is in the process of demolition.

It should be noted that the section in question has been closed to long-distance traffic since last February, allowing only local traffic and vehicles from the construction company carrying out the works.

On May 21, work began to dismantle the existing structure for the expansion of the left body of the new bridge.

While carrying out work today, May 22, personnel from the construction company were carrying out dismantling maneuvers on the existing bridge, having enabled an adjacent road as a diversion for local traffic, however, a Caterpillar 730 articulated yucleus-type heavy vehicle The construction company did not use the deviation, so the overweight of the unit on the structure, combined with the dismantling, caused the collapse.

A person from the construction company is reported with injuries, who was taken to the Ciudad Valles hospital.
