Lambayeque region will benefit from natural gas massification programs starting in September

This is a machine translation of the Minem release originally published in Spanish.

The Ministry of Energy and Mines (MINEM) announced that, as of September, the BonoGas program, which finances household natural gas connections, will begin to be implemented in four districts of the Lambayeque region, allowing families, businesses and social support institutions to have energy at a lower cost.

Bonogas, which already operates in the Lima, Callao, Ica, Ancash, Cajamarca and La Libertad regions, financing nearly 1 million natural gas connections between 2016-2022, will be available to users in the districts of Chiclayo, José Leonardo Ortiz and Pimentel, in the province of Chiclayo, and in the district of Lambayeque, province of the same name.

The goal this year is to benefit more than 20,000 households in Lambayeque, as well as businesses and social institutions such as soup kitchens or shelters, for which the Energy Social Inclusion Fund (FISE) is already signing agreements with 124 specialized natural gas companies, who will provide the service of information, affiliation and construction of the facility.

BonoGas allows the free installation of natural gas in homes of low socioeconomic status, and the financing of the installation of 50%, 75% and 100% for families of medium, medium-low and medium-high socioeconomic level. In these cases, the balance has a repayment period of up to 10 years without interest.

Likewise, the program offers the financing of up to two connection points in the homes, generally for the use of the kitchen and boiler. To access the program, households or establishments that request it must be located near areas that have natural gas distribution networks and contact any of the BonoGas companies in the region, which are available at www.fise.gob .pe.

The MINEN highlights that natural gas is a clean and safe energy resource, which generates savings of 50% compared to domestic gas (LPG) and 70% compared to electricity, in addition to not being subject to fluctuations in international oil prices as happens with LPG.
