With the leadership of the Minister of Energy and Mines, Jaime Gálvez Delgado, a new session of the multisectoral working group and the Vision Minera 2030 Group took place, within the framework of the Center for the Convergence Center and Good Mining-Energy Practices (Rimay), a space that brings together the State, companies, civil society and academia to develop and promote proposals that strengthen the sustainability of the mining, hydrocarbon and electricity sectors.
The purpose of the meeting, held on January 14, was to detail the progress made and the next steps of the second stage of the multi-stakeholder dialogue process that seeks to socialize and reach a consensus on the proposed Vision of Mining to 2030, which was built In the first stage.
The second stage includes regional dialogue processes that will begin in Moquegua and Cajamarca, with the participation of representatives of the four estates that Rimay brings together, seeking to generate consensus on the long-term vision for mining and its contribution to regional and local development.
It is estimated that the multi-stakeholder dialogue workshops in Moquegua will take place between February and March, while in Cajamarca they will take place between April and June. Currently, preparatory activities are taking place in both regions. "If we do not build a common vision and socialize it with concrete examples, it will be very difficult for mining to make its full contribution to the development of the country," said the head of the Ministry of Energy and Mines (Minem).
Likewise, throughout 2021, the technical working groups will be consolidated for the development of Rimay's prioritized activities. Thus, the technical group of the Mining Suppliers Technology Roadmap will continue, and groups will be formed to promote Good Water Resources Management Practices and the Regional Development Pilot, which will convene renowned experts track record for them to provide input.
The Vision of Mining to 2030 proposes an inclusive industry, socially, environmentally and territorially integrated, within a framework of good governance and sustainable development, which will be consolidated as a competitive and innovative activity that enjoys the appreciation of society.
