Hecla Mining is a US precious metals miner that produces, and explores for, silver and gold in the US, Canada and Mexico. In Latin America, the company owns the San Sebastián gold and silver property in Mexico's Durango state.
San Sebastián contains indicated resources of 25.9Moz of silver equivalent and inferred resources of 29.4Moz of silver equivalent. The company also operates the Lucky Friday mine in Idaho and the Greens Creek mine in Alaska, in addition to the gold mine Casa Berardi in Canada. Hecla was founded in 1891 and is based in Couer d'Alene, Idaho.
Hecla's concession holdings at San Sebastián are located in the middle of the prolific Mexican Silver Belt and cover approximately 42,000 hectares (162 square miles). Within this land position is the Francine Vein, Hugh Zone, Middle Vein and Don Sergio-Andrea vein systems as well as multiple prospective exploration targets. San Sebastián contains 19.8Moz of indicated silver resources and 15.7Moz of inferred silver resources. In addition, there are 171,000oz of indicated gold resources and 129,000oz of inferred gold resources.
