The Minister of Transport and Communications, Juan Barranzuela, said that one of the main tasks of the sector is to promote research and development in the field of satellite communications and advance in the commissioning of a system with the capacity to cover the Peruvian territory. and improve connectivity. For this reason, he just made a visit to Argentina to promote collaboration ties with that country in the satellite area.

The head of the MTC indicated that his participation in Argentina was to learn about the experiences and solutions of that country regarding the use and application of satellite communications technology to address the reduction of gaps in telecommunications services and unequal access to virtuality . “We have the immense task of connecting the peoples of the mountains, jungle and borders. It is not possible that we intend to solve the country's problems only by bringing technology from elsewhere. Not even in connectivity we are autonomous, we are subject to what the operators want to do”, he said during a ceremony to commemorate the two hundred and first anniversary of the Independence of Peru.

He added that the objective of the rapprochement with Argentina is to be able to transfer technology. “From now on, all the projects that are executed and that have an international participation component must include, in the contracts, in the agreements and in all the documents that are signed, a transfer of competence. We can no longer be apart of the world. Our professionals must be up to the task and well trained,” he added.

Along these lines, Barranzuela said that he will reach the primary documents to the Ministries of Defense, Education, Science and Technology and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to make this goal possible.

To promote this goal, he said that the recent meetings held with the ambassadors of Spain, Japan, Korea and China will be of great contribution to achieve the positioning of Peru at the technological and railway level.

At another point, the minister urged MTC officials to continue working to strengthen the MTC's priorities, such as bringing Peruvians closer together and connecting them with roads and digital media. "We celebrate another year of our national anniversary and we must renew our firm commitment to continue working for the good of the country," he said. The ceremony was also attended by the Vice Minister of Transportation, Luis Rivera; the Vice Minister of Communications, Fredy Tito Chura; the General Secretary, Alan Núñez, and the Chief of the Cabinet of Advisors, Gabriela Niño de Guzmán.
