New Nicaraguan baseball stadium set to be completed in November 2023
Nicaragua's government has stated that the construction of a baseball stadium in León is now expected to be completed in November 2023.
The construction works, which are costing US$29.7mn, include the baseball field, parking for around 450 vehicles and seating for 6,600 spectators, with the possibility of expanding that to 10,000 in the near term.
“The location is strategic .... We had always planned to have it in a sports area that we will turn into an Olympic village," said the mayor of León, Roger Gurdián, adding that it will be the second largest baseball stadium in the country.
This project is part of the first stage of a series of sports infrastructure investments for 2020-26, which include projects like the Masaya baseball stadium, the Estelí and Chinandega football stadiums and the Matagalpa sports complex.
