Telecommunications antennas are essential for a greater and better deployment of mobile telephone and Internet services in the country, for which the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) promotes regulations and policies that contribute to accelerating the deployment of this infrastructure, especially in rural areas. As of the fourth quarter of 2021, the number of antennas reached 72,918 nationwide in service, which represents a growth of 6.8% compared to the same period of 2020, according to the information reported to the MTC by the operating companies. In this regard, the general director of Policies and Regulation in Communications, Richard Washington Tineo Quispe, stated that "the MTC ensures the orderly deployment of antennas and in harmony with the environment." The MTC reminds that antennas or base stations are not harmful to health, on the contrary, they benefit the quality of life of all Peruvians with better communication quality in the national territory. From the report of the operating companies, it also appears that the regions of Ayacucho, Apurímac and La Libertad had the highest percentage of increase in the number of stations with 12.9%, 9.2%, and 9.2% respectively. In addition, growth was also registered in Lima (8%), Ica (7.4%), Piura (7.1%); and Cajamarca (7.0%). On the other hand, the regions that registered the lowest rates of growth of antennas were Tacna (1.9%) and Madre de Dios (2.3%).   Stations by technology As of the fourth quarter of 2021, it was verified that most of the antennas implemented correspond to 4G technology (45%), followed by 3G technology (36.9%) and 2G (17.6%). Likewise, in the first half of 2021, there was the presence of deployment of antennas with 5G technology, which corresponds to 0.5% of the total existing nationwide.
