Oil production falls 4.6% in first semester

Peru's production of liquid hydrocarbons in the year to June 23 was 16.2 million barrels, an average of 93,200 barrels a day (b/d) and 4.6% down on the same period last year, the mines and energy ministry said in a statement. Argentine oil company Pluspetrol produced the most oil with 10.3 million barrels (mb), followed by Peru's Petrotech with 2.07mb and Petrobras Energia with 2.4mb. Natural gas production increased 6.9% from the same period last year, averaging 38.2 million cubic feet a day (mcf/d) for a total of 6 billion cubic feet (bcf). Peruvian company Aguaytia was the largest producer with 4.2bcf, followed by Petrobras Energia with 996mcf and Petrotech with 685mcf.
