Oracle's engineered systems revenues match traditional hardware in LatAm
Oracle's (Nasdaq: ORCL) engineered systems revenues currently account for around 50% of the company's total hardware sales in Latin America, while the company's traditional hardware products account for the remaining 50%, Oracle's regional VP of technology, Fernando Lemos, told BNamericas.
The firm's engineered systems products were introduced into the region in recent years, and have quickly grown to reach the same level as traditional hardware in that time, according to the executive.
Engineered systems are currently growing in triple digits in Latin America, while the traditional hardware segment continues to grow in double digits.
Engineered systems products were first adopted by industries such as financial services and e-commerce, but demand is now coming from a range of major industries.
Growth in engineered systems is coming from throughout the Latin American region, but countries including Brazil, Mexico, Chile and Argentina are seeing particularly rapid growth, he added.
Oracle is seeing strong growth in its engineered systems solutions worldwide. The segment's revenues grew by around 60% in the company's fiscal Q1 ended August 31, Oracle president Mark Hurd said in a results release.
Engineered systems now account for over one third of the firm's total hardware revenues worldwide, CEO Larry Ellison said in a conference call with investors in June.
However, the company's total hardware division - including both traditional hardware and engineered systems - continues to struggle globally.
Oracle's total hardware product revenue fell by 14% in its fiscal Q1 to US$669mn, according to the results release.
