Panoro to resume Peru exploration

 

Vancouver-based Panoro Minerals said it will mobilize its own field staff and contractors to continue exploration plans at the 3,600ha Humamantata polymetallic project in southern Peru.

Activities were suspended due to the restrictive measures adopted by the Martín Vizcarra government to slow down the advance of COVID-19 and are being resumed under the second stage of the economic reactivation plan, which includes exploration by large-scale miners and the resumption of operations of medium and small-scale mining.

"The health and safety of our staff, contractors and local communities remains paramount,” Panoro CEO Luquman Shaheen said in a statement on Monday.

The project's reactivation plans include detailed geological mapping of targets, a geochemical survey, geophysical studies, and drilling.

Peru-focused Panoro also has the Cotabambas copper, gold and silver project in the country as well as the Antilla, Kusiorcco and Cochasayhuas projects.

Peru’s central bank predicted in recent days that the the economy would contract 12.5% in 2020 as a result of the pandemic.

Meanwhile, energy and mines minister Susana Vilca said recently that sustainable and responsible mining in the country will be crucial for its recovery.
