As part of the actions undertaken by the National Government to guarantee the safety of citizens in public spaces, the National Electricity Administration (ANDE), in collaboration with the Ministry of the Interior, the National Police and the municipalities of various districts of the country, will carry out works to improve public lighting in strategic places with high crime rates.

The launch of the Public Lighting Improvement Plan took place this Tuesday, September 12 at the ANDE Headquarters, located in the city of Asunción and has the goal of installing and/or repairing 5,000 public lighting throughout the country in the first 100 days of government. 4,100 Public Lighting devices to be intervened have already been surveyed, through complaints made by ANDE clients and data provided by the Ministry of the Interior, of which 100 will be new equipment to be installed, for which there will be a total of 60 crews working nationwide.

This Plan is part of the Interinstitutional Cooperation Agreement signed between ANDE and the Ministry of the Interior on August 24, for the improvement of public lighting, especially in areas near hospitals, schools, colleges, universities, bus stops and other places with large nighttime traffic that require better public lighting. For its part, the Ministry of the Interior refers the areas or places with the highest rate of insecurity in order to prioritize the improvement of lighting in those sectors.

Work will begin simultaneously in different parts of the country, including the metropolitan area. The main objective is to improve the quality of life of citizens and reduce crime rates through adequate public lighting.

Citizens can make their claims for the repair of Public Lighting through the institutional page www.ande.gov.py or through the My ANDE application, providing their corresponding NIS number.

Present at the launch event were the Vice Minister of the Interior, Óscar Campuzano, representing Minister Enrique Riera, the Mayor of Asunción, Óscar Rodríguez, the Mayor of Nueva Italia, Alvides Gamarra and representatives of the municipalities of Ñemby and Lambaré, in addition to the President of ANDE, Eng. Félix Sosa, accompanied by the Director of Distribution, Eng. Esteban Molinas, the Director of Regional Management, Eng. Gustavo Encina, and other executives of the institution.
