Parex Resources has outlined plans to raise oil and gas output by 8% in the first half of the year, as it readies new projects in Colombia's Llanos and Magdalena basins.
In a quarterly operations update, Parex said it aimed to increase production from 39,007boe/d in 4Q17 to more than 40,000boe/d in the current quarter. Output in 2Q18 is expected to average 42,000boe/d.
Parex said it resumed operations at Capachos after consultations with local communities and authorities resolved security concerns.
Engineering and procurement of a gas processing facility in the area is "advancing" and the unit is due to begin operating by year-end, it added.
Parex posted net income of US$155mn in 2017, up from US$46.4mn in 2016.
Annual oil and natural gas production averaged 35,541boe/d, of which 99% was crude oil. The figure represented a 20% increase on 2016.
