Pemex set to invest US$89mn to put Tabasco field into production
Mexican oil and gas giant Pemex has struck oil at its Cibix field in Tabasco state.
According to upstream regulator CNH, the company is now authorized to transition the well into production through a US$89mn investment involving the spudding of four development wells and the construction of two pipelines.
The state-owned firm initially plans to recover 4.3Mb of oil and 2.8Bf3 of gas, as it prepares a full development plan to be presented at a later date. The field is expected to reach output of some 16,000b/d of oil by January 2024.

A new batch of permitting rulings have been handed out by Mexican energy regulator CRE in the oil and gas and electric power sectors.
During its latest meeting on Tuesday, the commission rejected a generation permit requested by TB Energy, as well as a request to modify a cogeneration permit made by GAT Energía.
CRE also extended two accreditations to cogeneration plants to be considered efficient.
In the oil and gas sector, the commission greenlit 61 gas station permits but rejected three new permits, as well as six requests to change ownership of existing permits.
