Penoles shares rose 111% in 2002

Shares in Mexican mining and metals group Industrias Penoles (MX: PENOLES) rose 111% last year on the local stock market, Finamex reported. Penoles was the leading gainer on Mexico City's Medium Capitalization Index (IMC 30), the report said. Penoles saw its share price rise sharply in the first half of 2002, but fall back marginally toward the end of the year. It rose from 9.20 pesos at the close of 2001 trading to a high of 25 pesos late May, before falling to 15 pesos early December. The stock ended 2002 at 19.25 pesos. Penoles is the world's largest producer of refined silver, metallic bismuth and sodium sulfate. It also produces gold, zinc and copper.
