Peru readying due diligence for shuttered refinery
Peru’s national oil company (NOC) Petroperú launched bidding to conduct due diligence for the 3,300b/d Pucallpa refinery.
The work will determine the existence of environmental liabilities and look at the principal environmental and social aspects of the plant’s previous operations.
The refinery in the central Amazon region of Ucayali was shuttered in 2018 by Maple Gas, which had operated the plant under a lease, and in June, congress declared Pucallpa’s reactivation to be of national interest.
The NOC also issued a call to determine the value of complementary works of the new 95,000b/d Talara refinery to calculate the 2024 tax value.

In recent days, Petroperú opened a process to audit Talara’s US$5.29bn modernization.
The company’s other refineries are Iquitos (12,000b/d), Conchán (15,500b/d) and El Milagro (2,000b/d), the latter of which is closed.
