Petrobras contracting telecoms tower services for onshore units

Brazil’s federal oil firm Petrobras launched a tender for the contracting of repair, maintenance and decommissioning services for telecom towers supporting its onshore operations in Rio de Janeiro and Espírito Santo states.

The tender has a reference budget of 4.4mn reais (US$885,000), while the bidder offering the biggest discount will win, according to the rules.

In total, Petrobras is contracting services for nine telecoms towers, with heights ranging from 25 to 80 meters. Five are in Rio de Janeiro state and four in Espírito Santo.

According to Petrobras, services sought vary and include reinforcement of structures, review of cable fixing, and replacement and recovery of supports for antennas.

Technical details, service requirements and other documents related to the bidding process can be obtained via the company’s procurement platform, Petronect, under reference number (“oportunidade”) 7004116353.

Bids can be submitted through October 17, also via Petronect.

Petrobras is also moving forward with the installation of telecom antennas both onshore and offshore as part of a private network project being carried out by Telefônica Brasil and Nokia.

The project comprises a dedicated network for 46 onshore and offshore units by 2024. By January this year, networks were functioning on 11 of 29 platforms and in six of 17 ground facilities, all part of the project’s first phase.

As BNamericas reported exclusively, and also in line with the private network initiative, the company expects to complete in the first quarter of 2025 the deployment of underwater fiber optics linking some 25 platforms in the Santos and Campos basins.

The Santos basin project is on track and roughly 60% advanced, with completion estimated for March 2024, BNamericas was told.

In the Campos basin, works are still in the engineering, site survey and cable landing stations visiting phase. Cable deployment is set to begin in the second half of 2024, with completion slated for March 2025.
