Petrobras makes Brazil onshore oil discovery

Brazil's state-run oil company Petrobras has identified new oil deposits at the onshore SEAL-T-61 block in the Alagoas basin.

The discovery at well 1BRSA1337AL, which does not constitute a commercial accumulation, was reported to local industry regulator ANP.

Petrobras secured a 100% stake in the block at the country's 11th oil and gas licensing round in 2013.

It is the Rio de Janeiro-based company's fourth hydrocarbon discovery so far this year and Brazil's seventh.

Six of the finds have been onshore and one offshore.

Operators are required to report hydrocarbons discoveries in Brazil within 72 hours.
