Petrobras procures fiber, optical equipment for Transpetro subsidiary

Brazil’s federal oil company Petrobras is seeking a host of optical and passive telecom equipment for its fuel transportation and logistics unit Transpetro.
A tender, accessible via procurement platform Petronect, involves the acquisition of coaxial cables, fiber cables, fiber optics splicing boxes, connectors and other equipment comprising a so-called passive telecom network.
Equipment such as cables and panels in passive networks does not use electric power for signal transmission, forming the foundation for active networks. Active network equipment performs more complex operations and includes switches, routers, and so on.
Overall, Petrobras is procuring 54 passive product items and models, from manufacturers Furukawa (45 items), Prysmian Energia (2), Datalink (2), Cisco Systems (1), Nexans Brasil (1), Radio Frequency Systems (1), Black Box Brasil (1), and Amp (1).
Bids can be submitted via Petronect between September 8 and September 15 and the lowest bid will win. Only individual companies which are legally established in Brazil may participate – consortiums are not allowed.
Details can be found at Petronect under reference number (“oportunidade”) 7003925554.
