Petroperú calls for an end to acts of vandalism against the North Peruvian Pipeline

This Petroperu release was published using machine translation.

Today in the morning, a group of protesters approached the valve at kilometer 371 of the Norperuano Pipeline (ONP), near the Nieva bridge, in the province of Condorcanqui, Amazonas region, with the intention of manipulating it.

Likewise, another group of protesters has been attacking the infrastructure of the ONP pipeline at kilometer 440, in the town of Inayo, district of Imaza, province of Bagua. Simultaneously, they set fire to the surrounding areas, a situation that could lead to an explosion or oil spill with serious consequences for nearby communities.

Given the unfortunate events described, Petroperú makes an urgent call to stop these acts of vandalism that are only putting the community and the protesters themselves in serious danger.

Petroperú reiterates that the ONP is a Critical National Asset that must be protected to guarantee a safe and sustained operation of the transportation of hydrocarbons, but above all to safeguard the integrity of people and care for the environment.
