Petroperú moves to abandon fuel infrastructure project

Peru's national oil company Petroperú has begun the process for the total abandonment of its Ninacaca fuel supply plant.

BNamericas previously reported that the NOC decided to "discontinue" Ninacaca and a new supply terminal in Ilo.

Although a reason to shelve the projects has not been disclosed, their termination comes amid Petroperú's restructuring process to improve financial and operational sustainability.

As for Ninacaca, the state operator launched bidding to prepare the abandonment plan, which will involve the dismantling and decommissioning of mechanical, electrical and civil structures, among others.

Offers for the 365-day contract are due September 16, according to bidding information available here using code SEL-PROC-9-2026-OFP / PETROPERU-1 (click on the "Buscador de Procedimientos de Selección" tab, then "Búsqueda Avanzada," and enter the code in the "Sigla Nomenclatura" box).

Petroperú recognized an impairment cost on the value of the Ninacaca assets of US$5.9mn.

Regarding Ilo, an impairment loss on the value of the assets was recognized for US$18.8mn, and management is evaluating the final disposal of nonimpaired assets for US$12.3mn.

Petroperú has also decided to suspend the Puerto Maldonado fuel supply project while a technical and economic evaluation is underway. Investment to date totals US$65.2mn.
