Scorpio's Nuestra Señora mine in Mexico sees falling production in 1Q13

Toronto-based Scorpio Mining (TSX: SPM) saw production fall in 1Q13 compared to 1Q12 at its main asset, the Nuestra Señora mine in Mexico. During 1Q13 Nuestra Señora produced 251,220oz silver, compared to 330,487oz in 1Q12 and 296,243oz in 4Q12. Zinc production totaled 3.19Mlb (1,596t) in 1Q13, compared to 3.83Mlb in 1Q12 and 3.32Mlb in 4Q12. Copper production totaled 439,954lb in 1Q13, compared to 599,854lb in 1Q12 and 347,167lb in 4Q12, Scorpio's latest production report said (in English). Lead production was the one exception. Nuestra Señora produced 1.81Mlb of lead in 1Q13, compared to 1.56Mlb in 1Q12 and 1.33Mlb in 4Q12. Scorpio is expecting the "near-term receipt" of a preliminary economic assessment (PEA) of Nuestra Señora as well as the nearby El Cajón and San Rafael projects, the firm said.
