Terminal Portuario Engie, of the Quellaveco mining project, begins shipment of copper concentrate

This is an automated translation of the original press release issued in Spanish
The new Engie port terminal, of the Quellaveco mining project, located in the province of Ilo, in Moquegua, received the Balabac Island ship, under the Panamanian flag, to carry out the first shipment of 35,400 MT of copper concentrate, bound for China and Japan.
The port facility has an 80,000-ton warehouse and a high-tech automated shipping system, through which the ore is moved from a conveyor belt at a shipping speed of 1,200 MT/hour.
The National Port Authority ( APN ), an entity attached to the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) grants, at the request of the private company, the port authorization with which the works begin and then authorizes the operations.
This project will generate the resources that will contribute to the development of the region and the closing of gaps in Moquegua, boosting the country's economy and contributing to the strengthening of the National Port System.
The Quellaveco project, developed by Anglo American in partnership with the Mitsubishi Corporation, constitutes one of the largest copper deposits in the world, which contemplates a total investment of US$ 5,500 million, during the 36-year life of the mine. It is scheduled to ship 1,100,000 MT of copper per year, estimated for the first decade.
The Peruvian State, through the Ministry of Energy and Mines, issued the authorization for the start of the commercial operation of Quellaveco, whose Peruvian copper production will begin to be exported to the world from the southern part of Peru. And in this context, Engie's port terminal will play a leading role.
