“This is the third meeting that we are having with ITAIPU, since in April 2022 we had had the first contact and the first visit by technicians from the Entity took place in September of the same year. We believe that Paraguay has the potential for the transition to electric vehicle technology, because the main source of energy is hydroelectric plants,” he noted.

For his part, Binacional's Sustainable Electric Mobility advisor, Luís López Lafuente, highlighted the trust that ITAIPU represents for the company, which already has important recognition in the region. He highlighted the fact that said firm also works in the agricultural sector, with machinery powered by clean energy.

“Having the people of Eletra in Paraguay means that they are seeing our country as having tremendous potential in terms of research, development and generation of electric vehicles. We were talking not only about the urban transportation sector, but also about agriculture, which is something we have been studying for a long time," he said.

“We believe that this company can be a great ally in that sense. That they can come to Paraguay and produce part of their vehicles here, taking advantage of the advantages that our country offers,” he added.

It should be noted that, among the various projects related to electric mobility, the Entity is currently working on the installation of the Task Technology Center, which represents a milestone in industrial cooperation between Paraguay and Korea, with a view to promoting the automotive sector in the country. through the development of traditional industry and locally produced electric mobility.
