Travel search engine Kayak expands to Andean region

US-based travel search platform Kayak will launch operations in Colombia, Chile and Peru by the end of the first semester.

Currently, Kayak has operations in Brazil, Mexico and Argentina. It is available in 38 countries and 17 languages.

The platform is hiring staff to support operations in these new markets, focusing sales and account management positions, while closing agreements with airlines and online travel agencies, the company said in a statement.

According to Statista, the number of global Kayak searches is forecast to increase to 3.6bn in 2019 from 1.2bn in 2012.
