US software company GlobalLogic set for Mexico launch

Software company GlobalLogic is about to start operations in Mexico and plans to continue growing in Latin America.
"We have our legal entity in Mexico and we’re making the formal launch the week of October 3," Juan Bello (in photo), VP and head of Latin America, told BNamericas.
GlobalLogic has 23 years of experience in the region with offices in Argentina and Chile. In 2021 it was acquired by Hitachi for US$9.6bn, providing resources to expand.
In Mexico the company will start with a management team of six people, but the idea is to reach 40 before the end of the year.
San Jose, California-based GlobalLogic has more than 800 people working on projects in Latin America.
"We’ve been seeing sustained growth in business throughout the region for many years and the expectation is that Mexico will allow us to continue that growth," said Bello.
GlobalLogic has been growing at 20-30% a year, and although Bello wanted to be cautious when giving forecasts, the VP said he hopes to "grow at an even higher rate."
The two main industries for GlobalLogic are banking and telecommunications. In addition, the company has experienced significant growth in media and retail.
GlobalLogic has also developed software for the automotive industry, both for cars and trucks.
"One of the areas we believe will grow faster in Mexico than in Chile or Argentina is automotive," added Bello.
The focus is to have an innovation center in each of the main countries in the region.
"The next step will be Colombia or Peru," said the executive. The company hopes next year to be able to enter a new market.
SUSTAINABILITY
The acquisition by Hitachi brought not only investment capacity but also a new culture and products to add to the portfolio.
As part of that culture, Bello highlights the goal of "growing within planetary limits," taking care of the environment and the wellbeing of people.
He said that for the last three years the company has been doubling its investment in carbon neutrality and claimed it is currently carbon negative.
In addition, GlobalLogic expects to grow in the areas of clean energy and sustainable transportation.
"We are working on creating new solutions for energy and transportation customers by building on top of Hitachi products," Bello said, adding the company is working on some projects but he declined to give details.
