Venezuela to acquire drilling rigs from China

Venezuelan national oil company PDVSA signed a memorandum of understanding with Chinese oilfield services firm Kerui Group to acquire an unspecified amount of drilling rigs.
The rigs will be deployed to the Orinoco heavy oil belt, oil minister and PDVSA president Eulogio Del Pino said in a statement.
The agreement also involves construction of a petro-industrial maintenance base to service both the new rigs and, potentially, rigs already operating in the country, PDVSA said.
