Santiago, August 2022.- Vestas Wind Systems A/S, a Danish company specialized in the design, manufacture, maintenance, sale and installation of wind turbines worldwide, announces the incorporation of Adrian Weyand as the new country manager of Chile and senior director of service for the markets of Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Peru and Uruguay.
With the incorporation of Weyand, a professional with almost 10 years of experience in markets such as Asia Pacific, Europe and now Latin America, Vestas reaffirms its commitment to the region as a strategic market and reinforces its support for its clients to generate and develop profitable and competitive projects in local markets.
“During the last 10 years, the development of renewable energy has allowed it to consolidate itself as a competitive and determining sector in local economies due to the growth and diversification of energy matrices. From my role at Vestas, I will seek to strengthen the axes of our commitment from the services area: favor the development and start-up of our projects in each market, respond to current needs and anticipate the future challenges and opportunities of the wind farms in the markets of Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Peru and Uruguay,” said Adrian Weyand, country manager for Chile and senior service director for the South LatAm region at Vestas.
After obtaining a degree as an Economist at the University of Augsburg -Germany- in 2012, Adrian joined Vestas the same year. Since then, he has built up his experience in the wind energy industry in the European and Asia Pacific markets, taking up residence in Singapore for nearly five years.
Vestas has 10.7 GW of installed wind capacity in Latin America, with 3,200 wind turbines distributed in 19 countries in the region. Thousands of wind turbines already installed in countries such as Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Chile, the Dominican Republic, Peru and Colombia are currently generating sustainable energy. And its new structure will help further drive growth in a promising region, in line with the global goal of accelerating the energy transition and supporting the development of a low-carbon economy.
