World Copper Conference in Chile canceled due to coronavirus

The World Copper Conference and Cesco Week, due to be held this month in Chilean capital Santiago, have been cancelled over concerns about the Covid-19 virus, organizers said on Monday.

The two events were planned for March 23-27 in Chilean capital Santiago.

In separate statements, consultancy group CRU and Chilean copper study group Cesco said the events had been called off to guarantee the safety of the attendees, including approximately 500 delegates from different countries. Chinese delegations had already stated earlier on Monday that they would not attend for the same reasons.

Next year Cesco Week and the World Copper Conference, one of the key annual gatherings of the global copper industry in Latin America, will be held on April 12-14.
