YPFB's "commercial move" will allow Bolivia to receive an additional $100 million

Santa Cruz, May 29, 2022 (AN/YPFB).- The recent adjustment in natural gas shipments to Argentina will allow the Bolivian State to receive an additional US$100 million, said the president of the Bolivian Fiscal Oilfields (YPFB), Armin Dorgathen Tapia. .
“The agreement between Bolivia and Argentina allows for an increase in natural gas volumes, but not to the detriment of Brazil, simply depending on which of the two markets was going to pay us more for the agreed volume. So, the Argentine market offered us $20 dollars per million BTU, therefore, it is not a political move, it is a commercial move”, explained Dorgathen.
The new commitment of the state oil company with Argentine Energy Integration (IEASA) contemplates the increase in the volume of natural gas exports, a scenario that will allow maximizing the income of the national treasury.
“In Brazil, the volume was reduced by 30% and it is sent to Argentina with a differentiated price that contractually allows us to deal with Petrobras. Now we are sending Argentina 14 million cubic meters per day (MMmcd) and the agreement says that we can reach up to 18 MMmcd”, added Dorgathen.
The oil authority stated that the commercialization of natural gas to the markets of Brazil and Argentina is guaranteed and that it is part of the contractual conditions of the Purchase and Sale of Natural Gas with Petrobras and IEASA.
Likewise, he ruled out any demand by Petrobras in relation to the reduction of energy shipments, since the commercial operation is part of the current contract with the Brazilian company.
He added that YPFB is in negotiations with Petróleo Brasileiro SA (Petrobras) of the Federative Republic of Brazil. "Ideally, these negotiations can reach a good port," he said.
