Argentina to Privatize ATC Frequency

Bnamericas
Argentina's government will privatize the bradcast television frequency currently operated by state-owned company ATC. The company's personnel, equipment and debt will remain in state hands but move to Channel 4.

News magnate and member of the Argentine Association of Television and Radio Broadcasters (ATA) Alejandro Massot said the move would allow an independent network of political television stations to be established.

Citicorp Equity Investment (CEI), together with Spain's Telefonica Internacional (TISA) and Torenos y Competencias (TyC) have expressed interest in the ATC frequency, and have held talks with Argentine presidential aides to establish a clearer position.

Confusion surrounds the frequency's move into private hands however as communications secretary Raul Delgado said the company would not be privatized.
