The new facility will have a 4km long and 45m wide runway; a 4km long taxiway, and an apron able to fit 18 aircrafts. The passenger terminal will cover an area of 35km2, whereas the parking areas will range between 10.6km2 to 18.2km2. The airport and its associated facilities will be built to LEED standards. The construction of the new Chinchero International Airport is aimed at improving the airport infrastructure capacity and the development of air transportation in the region, in order to allow a sustainable increase in domestic and foreign tourism, improving local and regional socioeconomic development. The new airport will have the capacity to receive more than 5 million passengers per year and will create more than 5,000 direct jobs.
