It will have sections for women and men and an area for social reinsertion activities, such as training inmates to grow crops. The existing prisons in Magdalena suffer from overcrowding and related problems like poor inmate health, needing an increase in capacity. The project will be located on 185ha in the municipalities of Sábanas de San Ángel and Fundación.
