Brazilian company CAF Brasil Industria e Comercio designs, manufactures and maintains railway passenger cars, rolling stock, and railroad equipment and systems. The company holds the concession to provide trains for the São Paulo metro system, awarded by the São Paulo state metropolitan transport company CPTM. As leader of the FROTA BH Consortium, the São Paulo-based firm has supplied trains for Belo Horizonte, as well as fabricated bogies for 15 trains in Porto Alegre. CAF Brasil Industria e Comercio is a subsidiary of Spanish railway company CAF, which started its operations in Brazil with the foundation in 2010 of its industrial plant in Hortolândia, São Paulo. The plant manufactures 500 coaches per year.
