Brazilian gas distributor CEG engages in the distribution of piped natural gas in 17 municipalities of Rio de Janeiro state, for the residential, commercial and industrial segments, serving over 870 thousand clients. It also sales natural gas for vehicles at gas stations (449 across the state) and for thermopower plants. It owns a network extending 4,385km. The cities where the company distributes natural gas are Belford Roxo, Duque de Caxias, Guapimirim, Itaboraí, Itaguaí, Magé, Mesquita, Nilópolis, Niterói, Nova Iguaçu, Paracambi, Queimados, Rio de Janeiro, São Gonçalo, São Jõao de Meriti and Japeri. Within CEG's concession area, Maricá is the only municipality where the company supplies compressed natural gas, with Mangaratiba soon to be added. In 2015, natural gas sales totalled 14,339mm3 per day. Supply for thermopower plants amounted to 10,249 thousand m3 and for gas stations totalled 2,094.3 thousand m3. Net profit for 2015 reached US$87.5 million. CEG is controlled by Spanish group Gas Natural Fenosa, it was incorporated in 1969 and is headquartered in Rio de Janeiro.
