Description

Companhia de Ferro Ligas da Bahia (Ferbasa) is a Brazilian mining company engaged in the production and marketing of ferroalloys, including chromium alloys and silicon ferroalloys, and in the mining, reforestation, and metallurgy businesses. Based in Bahia state, Ferbasa holds 85% of Brazil's chromite reserves and is the largest producer of chrome ferroalloys in the Americas. Its plant in Pojuca processes alloys from the company's 24 mines in Formoso and Andorinhas. The firm has installed chrome alloy capacity of 235,000t/y, with 94% going to the domestic market and 6% exported.
