Hidropaute is a state-owned company and Ecuador's largest generator. It owns and operates two plants, Mazar and Molino, and has three projects, Sopladora, Cardenillo and Río Zamora-Santiago. In February 2008, Hidropaute was integrated into Ecuador's state power holding generation company CELEC. Hidropaute is working on the Paute integral hydroelectric complex composed of Mazar, Molino, Sopladora y Cardenillo, four plants that will use the water of the Paute river. As of 2016, the first three plants were operative, with total capacity of 1,757MW and generating 8,500GWh annually.
