Constructora Norberto Odebrecht de Colombia Ltda., the local subsidiary of Brazilian construction company Odebrecht S.A., began operating in Colombia in 1992. Its completed projects include the La Loma-Santa Marta railway, the La Miel hydroelectric power plant, the Salitre and Cañaveralejo wastewater treatment plants, and the Termoemcali thermopower station. Odebrecht is currently carrying out the Magdalena river navigability project and the second stretch of Colombia's Ruta del Sol highway connecting Cundinamarca department's Puerto Salgar to César department's San Roque. The Ruta del Sol project is being developed through the Consol consortium, with Episol and CSS Constructores, to construct, improve and rehabilitate 528km of roads. The Magdalena navigability project is being handled through Navelena S.A.S., a JV between Odebrecht and Colombian constructing company Valorcon. Additionally, Odebrecht is also part of the Conpros consortium (Consorcio para la Prosperidad), with Colombian construction company PISA, for the improvement, and social and environmental management of phase II of the Bocayá 49km highway project, connecting Otache and Puerto Bocayá.
