Description

Corporación Eléctrica del Ecuador (CELEC E.P.) is a state-owned holding company engaged in the generation, transmission, distribution, marketing, import and export of electric power. In 2009, Corporación Eléctrica del Ecuador (CELEC S.A.) was incorporated as the result of a merger between Electroguayas S.A., Hidroagoyán S.A., Hidropaute S.A., Termoesmeraldas S.A., Termopichincha S.A., and Transelectric S.A. In 2010, CELEC S.A. merged with Hidroeléctrica Nacional (Hidronación S.A.), establishing Corporación Eléctrica del Ecuador (CELEC E.P.). The state entity is headquartered in Cuenca, Ecuador.
