Empresa Eléctrica de Iquique S.A. (Eliqsa) is a subsidiary of Emel Norte, which is part of the Chilean group CGE. The company transports, distributes and trades electricity in northern Chile's Tarapacá region (I). Its concession area includes districts Iquique, Pica, Pozo Almonte, Huara and Alto Hospicio, serving more than 96,000 clients. Eliqsa currently operates 696km of medium-voltage transmission lines and 590km of low-voltage transmission lines, with a total installed capacity of 282 (MVA). Formed in 1957, Eliqsa was acquired by Compañía Chilena de Electricidad (CGE) in 2007 from PPL Chile Energía Ltda.
