Telefónica Móviles Argentina, operating under the Movistar brand, is Spanish group Telefónica's subsidiary providing mobile telephony in Argentina. Telefónica entered the Argentinian market in 1990, after the privatization of phone services in the country. The company offers prepaid plans, roaming services, Wi-Fi, international long distance calling, among others. The Movistar Argentina holds open-ended government-granted concessions for the provision of local, national and international long distance calling services, national and international data transmission and other telecom and value-added services. The company has over 1 million mobile Internet clients, covering the entire Buenos Aires metropolitan area and over 350 towns in Argentina with its 3.5G and 4G network. Currently, Movistar Argentina operates almost 20 million mobile connections. In 2015, the company had a revenue of US$1.4 million. That year, the group invested US$1 billion in the company, mainly to extend the capacity and coverage of its 4G network. The company is based in the city of Buenos Aires.
