Otecel S.A. (Movistar Ecuador) is a telecommunications company, the Spanish Telefónica group's subsidiary for Ecuador. The company provides fixed and mobile telephony, mobile Internet accesses, and other value-added services. It began operating in 2004, after Telefónica acquired BellSouth's mobile assets. The company is present in 24 Ecuadorian provinces. Movistar Ecuador holds concessions for the provision of mobile services, expiring in 2023. At the end of 2015, the company had over 4 million accesses in Ecuador. Revenue totalled US$218.4 million. Movistar Ecuador is based in Quito.
