Total Austral S.A., a subsidiary of French multinational integrated oil and gas company Total S.A., began operations in Argentina in 1978 in the industries of gas exploration, production and transportation and distribution of specialty chemicals. The company has a presence in the LPG market with its Totalgaz brand and in the lubricants market through its Total and Elf brands. It is one of the owners of the Aguada Pichana block in Argentina's Neuquén province, together with German firm Wintershell and local company Pan American Energy. Its second production cluster is located in Tierra del Fuego, where it operates both onshore and offshore, including the onshore Ara and Cañadon Alfa fields and the offshore Hidra, Kaus, Argo, Carina, Aries and Vega Pléyade fields. Currently, Total Austral is developing the Vega Pléyade project which will produce 70,000boe/d to supply the domestic market. The company also has a stake in the region's gas pipeline networks. Total Austral is headquartered in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
