Costa Rican concessionaire Autopistas del Sol holds a 25-year concession contract to build, operate and maintain the San José-Caldera highway, which opened in January 2010. The 77km highway connects the country's main Pacific port, Puerto Caldera, with capital San José. The consortium is comprised of Globalvía (a subsidiary of FCC and Caja Madrid), Itínere Infraestructuras (the Sacyr Vallehermoso group's infrastructure subsidiary) and Portuguese construction firm Soares da Costa.
