Gasoducto Norandino S.A. is the owner of the Chilean section of the pipeline that brings natural gas from Northern Argentina (Salta province) to Northern Chile (region II), and arrives at two terminals on the coast of Antofagasta region (Chile): Tocopilla and Mejillones. The gas is distributed to combined-cycle plants located in the northern power grid and industrial and mining hubs in the zone. In 2016, the Chilean government announced it will start exporting 5Mm3/d of natural gas to Argentina. The gas will be distributed from the Mejillones liquefied natural gas terminal, using the NorAndino pipeline. The firm was incorporated in 1997 and is a subsidiary of Chilean electric power utility E-CL.
