Founded in 1986, Peruvian insurance and reinsurance company Rimac Seguros y Reaseguros provides life, health, accident, home, travel, retirement and vehicle insurance. It also provides insurance for companies, to cover property and employees, such as complete accident and group health insurance. In 1992, the company merged with Compañía Internacional de Seguros del Perú. It owns Rímac S.A. Entidad Prestadora de Salud (Rimac EPS), founded in 1998, which offers health-related insurance. In 2002, it acquired Wiese Aetna Compañía de Seguros de Riesgos Generales's insurance portfolio, and in 2004 it took over insurance companies Royal & SunAlliance Vida and Royal & SunAlliance Seguros Fénix. The firm's majority shareholder is Inversiones Breca S.A., with a smaller percentage owned by mining company Minsur S.A., both part of the Peruvian conglomerate Breca group. Headquartered in Lima, the firm also has offices in Arequipa, Cusco, Chiclayo, Huancayo, Iquitos, Piura and Trujillo.
