ArcelorMittal Brasil is the local unit of Luxembourg-based steel giant ArcelorMittal. The group's main activities focus on the following: long steel, flat steel, mining and tubular products. The firm has industrial units in São Paulo, Minas Gerais, Santa Catarina and Espírito Santo, and 29 steel manufacturing plants in Brazil, Argentina, Costa Rica and Venezuela. Its subsidiaries include ArcelorMittal Aços Longos (including Argentina's Acindar and ArcelorMittal Costa Rica), ArcelorMittal Tubarão and ArcelorMittal Vega. Its products – including long carbon steel, plain steel, flat carbon steel, wire rods, steel cords, hot-rolled coils, cold-rolled coils, bars, profiles, wires, mesh screens, and beams – have applications in the car, household appliance, packaging, construction, farming and naval industries. The firm was founded in 1917 and is based in Belo Horizonte, Brazil.
