Description

Brazil's largest steelmaker Gerdau S.A. is also the biggest producer of long steel in the Americas and one of the major providers of specialty long steel in the world, supplying the civil construction, agricultural and industrial sectors. The Porto Alegre-based company has plants – including steel mills, hot rolling facilities, and processing plants – in 14 countries in the Americas, Europe and Asia, where it produces 25Mt/y of steel in blast furnaces and electric arc furnaces. Its production lines include flat products, long carbon steels, specialty long steels, sheets, blocks and billets, and forged and cast parts. Gerdau's assets are controlled by local steel holding company Metalúrgica Gerdau S.A.
