Rio Alto Mining is a Canadian resource company in the business of acquiring, exploring, and developing gold resources and advanced stage exploration projects in both Peru and Latin America. It is currently focused on the development of the 21,000ha La Arena gold-copper project, located in Peru's Cajamarca region. After the acquistion of Toronto-based Sulliden Gold in 2014, the company added to its portfolio the Shahuindo gold and silver project, also located in Cajamarca. Rio Alto Mining was incorporated in 1987 and is based in Vancouver, Canada. In 2015, the company completed a merger process with its compatriot, Tahoe Resources, of which it became a wholly owned subsidiary.
