Banking sector's profits jump 143% in January-November

Venezuelan banks' net income in January-November was 7.02bn bolívares (US$1.63bn), jumping 143% compared to the same period last year, according to a release from local banking association ABV.

The credit portfolio reached 255bn bolívares at the end of November, a 43.8% increase compared to the same time in 2010.

Total banking sector assets grew 48.4% in the year through November to 582bn bolívares.
